We add more classes throughout the year, based on student interest.
Rather than just being a classroom session where we TALK about doing real estate photography, in our "Learning by Doing Series", we just go out and do it! We'll actually go out to a property and photograph it (using your own camera and tripod) and then come back to my studio to process the images on your own computer. Learn techniques in the field for getting good shots, things to do and things to avoid, and then learn how to process them to make the best images possible.
Ideally suited for anyone wanting to take better real estate photos, which might include:

As with a lot of photography, we have to be able to take on a challenge and make the best of it. This is definitely true in the "real world" of shooting typical real estate properties (especially the non-high-end properties). You don't always have the luxury of shooting in the "best light", and instead you have to just deal with what you have available on the day the photos are needing to be taken. There are usually various forces that affect the choice of the day and time when a property needs to be photographed, e.g. the home is properly staged and is cleaned up and "ready" to be photographed, workers are not going to be there, it's not in the middle of being remodeled, times may be limited to when the owner is not home, how soon it goes on the market, etc. and those pressures sometimes outweigh "best light" considerations. And then even if you align all these factors and choose the time of day that is best for the light, you can't control the weather which might totally mess up your plans, so you just have to make the best of it. It really poses the challenge of doing the best you can with what you have been given. That's exactly what we'll do with this workshop, and we'll work through the "photographic problem solving" to create the best images we can.
If you are considering becoming a real estate photographer as a profession, note this class just covers photographic techniques (not including 360 degree panoramics). As with any business, there is more you would need to explore, how to best serve clients (realtors) needs, scheduling, delivery, business relationship building, etc. In this Learn by Doing activity, we're looking at just the photography tips, not business development.
